The New York Central System Historical Society (NYCSHS) was organized in March 1970. The NYCSHS is chartered as a non-profit corporation under the laws of the State of Ohio. The Vision of the NYCSHS is to be the preferred source of information and products relating to the New York Central System. The Mission of the NYCSHS is to perpetuate the legacy of the New York Central System by acquiring and preserving its history, traditions, documents, and artifacts; and by disseminating accurate information and products consistent with good stewardship. Our core values agreed upon by the NYCSHS Board of Directors are: Integrity, Preservation, and Dissemination (Service). Your membership gets you four issues of the popularly acclaimed Central Headlight, the official publication of the NYCSHS. Only available to members, each issue contains a wealth of information each quarter.
The Society also publishes an online modeling magazine, the NYCentral Modeler, that provides articles, news and photos about NYCS modeling. It is published quarterly and may be viewed online or downloaded and is free to all modelers.
From steam to diesel (and electric), from freight to passenger, from branch line to mainline, and from the early days of Vanderbilt to the waning months of Young and Perlman, the Central Headlight covers it all. Our Annual Meetings are also events not to be missed, focusing on the preservation of New York Central railroad history with informative speakers, presentations and tours. The Society also has many NYC models, clothing articles, memorabilia, videos, CD/DVDs, reference books, art prints, and drawings available for purchase. Membership is open to all, so don’t delay!
We are pleased to kick off the New York Central System Historical Society’s upcoming 50th Anniversary year. From a humble March 1970 beginning with a few employees passing the hat to get things started, we have grown to a worldwide membership of nearly 1,700 members. We have much to celebrate as we seek to continue our mission to perpetuate the legacy of the New York Central System by acquiring and preserving its history, traditions, documents, and artifacts; and by disseminating accurate information and products consistent with good stewardship.
The first 50 years have been graced with many hard working members. They have created the attributes we enjoy so much today, starting with our fine quarterly historical publication, Central Headlight. That is just the tip of the iceberg. For modelers, we offer the online NYCentral Modeler. It is just one of the online offerings. There is also our home page, NYCSHS.org, and our company store, the Collinwood Shop, at NYCSHS.net for those looking for NYC models, books, apparel, memorabilia, many digital products and more. We have our photo/map collection of over 40,000 images available on line and available for purchase as well.
We continue the tradition of having an annual meeting and Convention, which will be in Cleveland in 2020. We are planning to make it extra special, as it is the place of our birth, and the home of our Headquarters. There will be commemorative Collinwood Shop offerings and events, so check them out in the rest of this email.
Join us in reflecting back on and celebrating the last 50 years, and in looking forward to growing our future during our Golden Anniversary year!

NYCSHS may collect personal information from users in connection with voluntary surveys. Data may be collected on our Web sites, on the phone or through the mail. The information you provide in answer to optional survey questions may be shared, but only in the aggregate, with advertisers and partners unless we notify you otherwise at the time of collection.

You will not be able to access certain areas of our Web sites, including NYCSHS.com, if your computer does not accept cookies from us.
Cookies from Advertisers

For instance, advertisers may place a clear gif allowing them to recognize an existing cookie on your browser if from the same service. The main difference between cookies and clear gifs is that clear gifs are invisible on the page and are much smaller, about the size of the period at the end of this sentence.
