Friday’s Happenings

Director Rich Stoving helped attendees sign in. Each registered Member received an NYCSHS logo messenger bag, along with a DVD of Big Four photos, and related Cleveland area historical information.

D61_0369-NoelBusiness was brisk in Collinwood Shop. Brian Kelly quickly found a model or two that he had been searching for.

D61_0441-NoelThe modeling display area was filling up with the “must see” masterpieces of our Members.

D61_0462-NoelThe first round of Presentations were well attended. Shel Lustig, NYCSHS Vice President, took a group on a tour of historic NYC towers.

AC Tower was opened to us, along with Marion’s Union Station, while we listened to the steel music of mile + long trains over the Marion diamonds.

The Gallion station restoration efforts were on full display.

Kevin Keefe  formerly of Trains Magazine (and a  NYCSHS member) focused his banquet night presentation on The Michigan Central.


Sunday’s Presentations and Other Events

StovongPacifics S

Rich Stoving presented a master class on NYC’s Pacifics. “Know Thy Pacifics”

drew a full house.

LarkinCabooses S

Proto and HO scale modelers followed Set Lakin’s step-by-step presentation on building NYC’s 17700-17999 MC & CS cabooses.

SandersMatoon S

Mattoon, IL and the NYC’s Illinois Division were the focus of Craig Sanders’ well researched presentation.

StaplinPassCars S

For the passenger car modelers, Dave Staplin’s presentation put the spotlight on “Modifying the Walther’s RPO”.
ScheringInterview S
There was plenty of activity at our new Headquarters/Archives, welcoming Conventioneers for a look at the activities and resources housed there. Director Ralph Schiring is seen in the above photo be interviewed on camera, as he talked about the benefits of Society membership.

BoardRoomS

The quiet Board Room at Headquarters was a fitting representation of the completion of another successful NYCSHS Convention.
