The NYCSHS 2018 Convention Ends
in Cleveland, OH
Take a look at some of the activities that made the NYCSHS Convention a Success Again this Year!!!
Friday’s Happenings
Director Rich Stoving helped attendees sign in. Each registered Member received an NYCSHS logo messenger bag, along with a DVD of Big Four photos, and related Cleveland area historical information.
Business was brisk in Collinwood Shop. Brian Kelly quickly found a model or two that he had been searching for.
The modeling display area was filling up with the “must see” masterpieces of our Members.
The first round of Presentations were well attended. Shel Lustig, NYCSHS Vice President, took a group on a tour of historic NYC towers.
Saturday’s Tours and Banquet
Members get an early start as three buses wait to transport them to a day of railroad history.
Bellevue Yard and Moorman Engine Service Facility.
Enjoying the restored Bucyrus station and some live railroad action.
AC Tower was opened to us, along with Marion’s Union Station, while we listened to the steel music of mile + long trains over the Marion diamonds.
The Gallion station restoration efforts were on full display.
Kevin Keefe formerly of Trains Magazine (and a NYCSHS member) focused his banquet night presentation on The Michigan Central.
Sunday’s Presentations and Other Events
Rich Stoving presented a master class on NYC’s Pacifics. “Know Thy Pacifics”
drew a full house.
Proto and HO scale modelers followed Set Lakin’s step-by-step presentation on building NYC’s 17700-17999 MC & CS cabooses.
Mattoon, IL and the NYC’s Illinois Division were the focus of Craig Sanders’ well researched presentation.

The quiet Board Room at Headquarters was a fitting representation of the completion of another successful NYCSHS Convention.
